Silver Fern hopeful Cathrine Latu says she's devastated to be missing out on the Netball World cup but knows that Netball New Zealand did everything they could to get her there.
The Northern Mystics and former Samoa goal shoot was last week named in the Silver Ferns squad for the tournament, despite being ruled ineligible by the sport's international governing body IFNA, as she'd played for Samoa at the previous tournament.
Netball New Zealand applied to the have the case ruled on by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland.
However the international sports court says it won't be making a ruling on the case as Netball New Zealand came to them too late.
Latu says it's not easy to take but she knows Netball New Zealand put a lot on the line for her and says they're also fighting for a bigger cause - to sort out discrepancies over the rules.
