Olympic Chef de Mission off to London

7:34 am on 28 July 2011

The New Zealand Olympic team's Chef de Mission Dave Currie has left for a second Olympic site visit one year to the day before the Games start in London.

Currie will attend a number of test events and will join New Zealand athletes and support teams at the Junior World Rowing Championships on the Olympic course at Eton Dorney, the Weymouth and Portland International Regatta and the ITU World Series Triathlon test event in Hyde Park.

Meanwhile the NZOC has announced the results of an on-line poll which shows New zealanders' favourite Olympic uniform is the one worn at Athens in 2004.

It featured a white fern reminiscent of a Greek laurel wreath and was preferred to the uniforms worn at Rome in 1960, Seoul in 1988 and London in 1948.
