The New Zealand rugby league prop Sam McKendry had surgery on his broken jaw last night, and is likely to be out of action for a couple of months.

The Penrith front-rower suffered the injury during the defending champions 36-nil Four Nations win over Wales at Wembley yesterday morning.

Fellow Kiwis prop Fui Fui Moi Moi sprained his ankle during the victory but should be fine to play England next Sunday while utility Alex Glenn took a knock to his shoulder but is now fine.

The Kiwis doctor Simon Mayhew says McKendry should be back in time for the start of the NRL season.

Dr Mayhew says the rest of the squad is fully fit and should all be available for next Sunday's do or die match against England at Hull which will determine who faces Australia in the Four Nations final.
