Power was returned on Thursday night to parts of Horowhenua hit by a fault at a substation.
Electricity was cut earlier on Thursday after a fire at a substation in Shannon.
Power supplier Electra says power has been restored in Shannon, Tokomaru and Opiki.
The incident came less than a month after a storm affected power in the area.
A spokesperson for power supplier, Electra, says the fire was caused by a voltage transformer failure.
