Two due in court over "P" lab

Two people are due to appear in the Tokoroa District Court on Monday after the discovery of a methamphetamine laboratory in the Waikato town of Putaruru.

Specialist police officers were brought by helicopter from Auckland to deal with the lab.

Police found the laboratory in a business premises in Arapuni Street business premises on Friday morning.

Both the Putaruru and Rotorua fire brigades were called in case of an emergency and surrounding shops were cordoned off for five hours.

A woman, 44, and a man, 45, face charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, and possessing equipment and substances capable of producing the drug, also known as "P".
