Dixon in front row for final race of season

7:53 am on 8 September 2008

Scott Dixon of New Zealand will start in the front-row of Sunday's final race of the IndyCar season.

Dixon leads the series by 30 points from Helio Castroneves of Brazil and has posted the second fastest qualifying time for the Indy 300 race at the Chicagoland Speedway.

The race is 200 laps. A finish of eighth or better in the race means he will win the series for the second time. Dixon won this year's Indy 500.

Twenty seven drivers are competing: Ryan Briscoe of Australia will start in the pole position. Castroneves will start last due to a penalty imposed by race officials.

Danica Patrick of the United States will start on the inside of row two with Tony Kanaan of Brazil alongside.
