A 500-year-old skeleton of the world's largest extinct flightless bird is on show at Melbourne University.

The skeleton is that of a moa which was preserved in a New Zealand peat bog for centuries.

After many years in storage, the skeleton of the two-and-a-half metre bird has been put together by university staff.
