A veterans' association is shocked at a decision by the Auckland War Memorial Museum to cancel space for a $100,000 memorial sculpture.
The New Zealand RAF Bomber Command Association says the museum has decided there is not enough space for the exhibit.
President Bill Simpson says the bronze sculpture has been in preparation for the past two years.
Made by Weta Workshop, it commemorates New Zealanders who died in the Bomber Command during World War II.
Museum board chairman David Hill says the sculpture, which weighs almost half a tonne, is too big.
Mr Hill says the board will discuss where it can put the memorial at a meeting early next month.
