Bomb-proof recycling bins are to be installed in the financial district of central London from next year.
The bins will also feature news and weather information on LCD screens. They will cost around Stg30,000 each.
A 15-year contract has been signed between the City of London and Media Metrica.
There are a only small number of rubbish bins in the City of London. Most were removed in the 1990s after IRA attacks in the capital, over fears that bombs could be concealed in them.
