There will be a further temporary closure to the scallop fishery in the Kaipara Harbour.
It will the third closure since 2005 and will run for a year from 28 November.
Fisheries minister Jim Anderton says the scallops have not sufficiently recovered following the last closure.
He says long-term decisions will have to be made.
