Police are still searching for a dangerous prisoner who escaped in the Horowhenua town of Shannon a fortnight ago.
Debden Wamoana and a fellow inmate, Jay Solomon, forced their way out of a moving prison van while en route to the Levin District Court. Solomon has since been caught.
The police say 26-year-old Wamoana is violent and is facing serious assault charges.
A police spokesperson says sightings of him led to police call-outs in Shannon on Monday and Tuesday, but the prisoner is still on the run, and should not be approached.
Senior Sergeant Willie Roy says a police investigation has revealed equipment failure was behind the prisoners' escape, but the fault has since been fixed.
Steps have been taken to ensure other police escort vans are not affected by the fault.
