Indian media report that up to 155 people have been killed and 327 others wounded in a series of coordinated attacks by terrorists in Mumbai.

Venues under attack on Wednesday night included the central railway station, two hotels, a Jewish centre, a hospital and a cafe frequented by foreigners.

Fighting is continuing at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel and the Jewish centre where commandos are seeking to re-take the premises.

Early on Saturday, about 51 hours after the attacks began, the NDTV news channel said on its website that 154 were dead and 327 injured.

The CNN-IBN channel put the toll at 155 dead and also said 327 were wounded.

The Press Trust of India news agency quoted the Minister of State for Home Affairs as saying the final death toll could be 200.

The foreign minister earlier said "elements with links to Pakistan" were involved.
