The body of the man who fell from his boat in the Bottle Top Bay area, near Papakura, has been formally identified.
Manurewa man Loielu Faiao, 33, was drinking with his friend in the bay on Saturday when their boat was swamped by a wave.
Search leader Sergeant Dean Duthie says the family has been notified. He says Mr Faioa was not wearing a life jacket, and his intoxication may have impaired his ability to swim.
A post-mortem will be held.
