Record length semi-final at Australian Open

Rafael Nadal of Spain will play Roger Federer in the men's final of the Australian Open after a five-set match against Fernando Verdasco.

Nadal won 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-7, 6-4 after a match that lasted five hours 14 minutes - the longest in the history of the event. It started on Friday and did not finish until early Saturday.

The previous record was five hours 11 minutes between Boris Becker and Omar Camporese in 1991.

Serena Williams of the United States will seek for her fourth Australian Open singles title when she plays Dinara Safina of Russia on Saturday.

Williams earlier won the doubles title on Friday night with her sister Venus.
