Queensland bracing for another cyclone

10:18 pm on 4 February 2009

Northern Queensland is bracing for another cyclone, with 62% of the state already declared a disaster zone because of flooding from Cyclone Ellie.

The worst hit area is Ingham, between Townsville and Cairns.

Almost 3000 homes in the town have been affected, with 50 inundated and dozens of people evacuated.

Flooding in Queensland started last December, and has continued to be fed by a series of rain depressions and Cyclone Ellie.

Another tropical cyclone is now forming off the north Queensland coast.
