Six New Zealanders will be presented with peacekeeping medals by the President of East Timor on Monday.
The medals honour five Defence Force personnel and a police officer for their role in New Zealand's response to turmoil that broke out in East Timor in April 2006.
President Jose Ramos-Horta will present the medals at an event at Premier House.
Acting Defence Minister Heather Roy says it's the first presentation to New Zealanders involved in the response.
A further 700 defence personnel and 100 police officers will receive medals later in the year.
