A reported abduction of an 11-year-old schoolgirl on the North Shore of Auckland has turned out to be false.
Police say inquiries made by a child abuse team over the past five days have led them to believe that the incident did not happen.
The girl claimed she walking to school in Beach Haven last week when she was approached by a man in a vehicle who got out and grabbed hold of her.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby says no charges will be laid against the girl.
