Cells searched after killing of prisoner

Police are searching cells in the east wing of Auckland Prison in Paremoremo, where the body of an inmate was found on Sunday morning.

Tue Faavae, 23, was serving five years in prison for violent offending, including aggravated robbery. He was found dead in the east wing of the prison about 11am on Sunday,

Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby says two specialist search groups, consisting of eight people in each group are searching cells in the block.

He says they are looking for any items of interest or other information to help identify who was responsible for the killing.
