Roofing iron knocked off court in windy Wellington

7:15 pm on 27 March 2009

Stong wind gusts have knocked plywood and roofing iron off the new Supreme Court building in central Wellington on Friday night.

Emergency services cordoned off Ballance Street, next to the building, and are working with contractors to reattach roofing materials.

A Radio New Zealand reporter says one plywood sheet smashed a window at the Occidental hotel opposite the court, while another was hanging from a telephone line.
