Hamilton police promise tough stance on disorder

9:02 pm on 4 May 2009

Police in Hamilton are warning they will take a zero tolerance approach to out of control partygoers after six people were arrested in an incident officers say could easily have been avoided.

Police say were abused and pelted with glass bottles when they were called out to a major disturbance on Ford Street about 1am on Sunday.

About 80 people were at the Hamilton East house and 25 officers were required to clear the street.

Senior Sergeant Greg Dunn says police have a very clear zero tolerance policy if they are called to control a party.
