A man has been charged after the suspicious death of a woman in the Auckland suburb of Western Springs.
The woman, 48, was found in her house on Tuesday. Detectives say she may have died up to a month ago.
A computer programmer, 47, appeared in Auckland District Court on Wednesday charged with assault. He was ordered to undergo psychiatric assessment.
The accused and the woman's names are suppressed.
Lawyer John Anderson says a psychiatric report has been ordered to assess his client's fitness to be able to plea, understand proceedings and offer a defence.
Police say it is too early to say if further charges will be laid.
