Seven more arrested in central Otago bust

Seven more people have been arrested in central Otago after a three-month police drug operation.

Nine people were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Queenstown, Glenorchy and Cromwell and charged with drug and firearms offences.

The latest arrests were in Cromwell overnight and seven men have been bailed to appear in Alexandra District Court next month.

Detective Graham Bartlett says the charges include possession and purchasing of LSD and cannabis.

Mr Bartlett says police in Queenstown are particularly vigilant over the winter months as thousands of people come to the town to ski and party.
