Two gang members have appeared in the Napier District Court after an altercation between rival factions outside a suburban supermarket.
Senior Sergeant Wendy Wright says that four men from one gang who were carrying golf clubs and sticks allegedly attacked two from another gang on Thursday.
She says both victims were treated at Hawke's Bay Hospital in Hastings for moderate injuries before being discharged.
Two gang members were arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.
Ms Wright says the police are seeking witnesses and more arrests may follow.
