An elderly man is in a critical condition in hospital after a truck and trailer unit collided with his mobility scooter in Balclutha.
The accident happened about 2.30pm on Monday when the truck turned into a service lane behind Clyde Street in the South Otago town, police say.
The passenger side of the truck knocked the 89-year-old driver off his scooter and under the tyres of the unit.
The man suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to Dunedin Hospital.
