Parliament goes into urgency to progress RMA bill

Parliament has gone into urgency to progress four different bills on Tuesday, including reform of the Resource Management Act.

MPs have begun debating the Crown Retail Deposit Guarantee Scheme Bill that

will extend the Government's retail deposit guarantee scheme for another year.

The Labour Party is supporting the legislation, which will be passed through all its stages under urgency.

MPs will then go on to the second reading and remaining stages of legislation that aims to simply processes under the Resource Management Act. This is the

Resource Management (Simplifying and Streamlining) Amendment Bill.

The House will also hear a first reading of a new biosecurity bill and the second reading of legislation providing bonuses on student loan repayments.
