Beach bar opens again after tsunami

A bar at one of the beach resorts destroyed in the tsunami in Samoa has reopened in the middle of the debris.

The Faofao beach resort, in the Faleapaga village of the island of Upolu, has a small bar in the middle of the rubble after fundraising by some New Zealanders.

The idea came from bar manager Auva'a Tapu who joked to New Zealander Hamish Coleman Ross that he would make him a drink if he had a blender.

Mr Ross rallied his friends in New Zealand and before long a blender, glasses and a fridge were on their way to Samoa.

More fundraising helped purchase the timber and students helped build the bar.
