Taranaki Maori are being encouraged to tell their stories as part of the 150th commemoration of the start of the Taranaki Land Wars.

The community liaison coordinator at Puke Ariki Museum in New Plymouth, Jocelyn Millard, says the exhibition in March 2010 will be an opportunity for iwi to share their stories.

She says as well as looking at the past, the exhibition will focus on how Taranaki descendants are faring 150 years on.

The exhibition opens on 17 March 2010, the anniversary of the first clash at Waitara, and runs for six months.
