Workers from the brewery company Tui are on strike after an a attempt by their employer, Dominion Breweries, to impose a pay freeze.
More than 50 workers from the company's Timaru and Greymouth operations will take industrial action for the next four days.
A spokesperson for the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union, Andrew Little, says its members are outraged with their employer's attempt to freeze their pay, as the company is still making a healthy profit.
Employees in other parts of the country are also considering action.
