An eight year old child is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in South Auckland on Saturday evening.
The police say the child ran out into the path of an oncoming vehicle on Bairds Road in Otara.
The section of road between Cobham Crescent has been closed and the police remain at the scene.
Meanwhile, in Manurewa the police are at the scene of another car accident.
They say a woman has serious head injuries after being thrown from her vehicle while backing out of her driveway.
