Police say a fatal fire in a barn in Karaka south of Auckland was caused by an electrical fault.
Firefighters found a man's body inside the barn on Tuesday night.
Police say he probably went into the barn when he noticed the fire and then got into difficulty.
They say they still do not know the man's identity and a post-mortem examination is due to take place on Thursday.
