At least 30 people are confirmed dead in Bangladesh, after a ferry packed with passengers travelling home for a Muslim festival capsized as they disembarked.
The BBC reports the MV Coco-4 was carrying more than 1000 passengers and police say 28 bodies have been recovered and about 100 passengers are still missing.
The accident happened about 300km south of Dhaka when one of the country's largest inland vessels was docking at a river station on Bhola island, bringing people home for the Muslim Eid al-Adha festival.
Hundreds of people used to die every year in ferry accidents in Bangladesh, but since the enforcing of stricter safety rules two years ago, there have been no major ferry disasters.
