Eric Tindill, the only New Zealander to have played at test level in cricket and rugby, celebrated his 99th birthday on Friday.
Tindill played one rugby test against England in 1936 and five cricket tests between 1937 and 1947.
He is the oldest All Black and the oldest living cricket international.
He also represented New Zealand in table tennis and was an international rugby referee and cricket umpire.
His daughter, Molly Tindill, says that though her father enjoyed every moment of his sporting years, there is probably one standout memory: the day he got married he played cricket in the afternoon, helping New Zealand draw the test against England, before getting on a boat bound for Britain.
