Swedish car maker Volvo is on the verge of being sold to a Chinese company by Ford.
Ford says the sale, to Zhejiang Geely, is expected to be completed within six months, once details of financing are completed and government approval secured.
Ford has been trying to find a buyer for Volvo since last year, so it can focus on its core brands.
The first Volvo vehicle was made in 1927. The company was bought by Ford in 1999.
No details were given of how much the deal is worth, but it is widely reported that Geely will pay Ford $US2 billion (â¬1.4 billion), less than a third of the $US6.45 billion that Ford paid in 1999.
The BBC reports another Chinese company recently agreed to buy part of the Swedish car maker, Saab.
