An appeal is being considered by the director of a rafting company convicted over the death of a trainee guide.

Tor Prestmo, from Norway, drowned in October 2007 after two rafts collided on the Rangitikei River and he was trapped underwater.

Judge Gregory Ross on Wednesday found River Valley Ventures guilty on three charges of failing to ensure the safety of employees.

River Valley Ventures director Brian Megaw says following the ruling, other rafting companies are changing their safe operating plans to make them less specific.
