Kapiti police seek witnesses to SH1 collision

7:47 pm on 11 January 2010

Kapiti Coast police are appealing for witnesses after a truck rear-ended and wrote off an elderly man's vehicle.

The collision occurred on State Highway 1 at 9.50am on Monday, when the 90-year-old's south-bound vehicle was hit by a light commercial truck.

Both drivers were unhurt.

Sergeant Ian Osland says the drivers did not swap details, but officers have managed to identify the firm that owns the truck and hope to speak to the driver on Monday afternoon.

Mr Osland says police have received some conflicting reports about exactly what happened and is appealing for witnesses to come forward.

He says the truck driver did not flee the scene of the crash.
