Coroner's report awaited on women's death

3:10 pm on 17 January 2010

The brother of a woman who died after she was sent home from hospital, is waiting on a coroner's report before deciding whether to demand an explanation for her death.

Lynette Coulter, 52, was revived after almost drowning at Tapuaetahi Beach, near Kerikeri, and was admitted to Whangarei hospital.

Her brother, Craig Coulter, says she was released from Whangarei hospital but her condition worsened and she was admitted to Auckland hospital where she later died.

If the coroner's report confirms something went wrong with his sister's treatment, he will ask the Northland District Health Board to explain.

Based on their response, Mr Coulter says he will decide whether to lay a complaint with the Health & Disability Commissioner.

The health board says it is waiting on the coroner's report.
