Less money for community projects

The Charity Gaming Association says a drop of 5.2% in spending on gaming machines will mean community projects get less money.

Figures from the Department of Internal Affairs show spending on machines fell by $47 million last year.

The association says community groups which have been struggling because of the recession, will now find it even harder to secure funding.

Chief executive Francis Wevers says the association's financial contribution will fall because of lower spending on gaming.
