Police have begun a homicide investigation after the body of a woman was discovered at a Christchurch house.
The woman was found at a property in Aotea Terrace in the Port Hills suburb of Huntsbury.
Acting Detective Inspector David Long said forensic experts have been carrying out a scene examination.
Part of the street has been cordoned off on Friday night and residents who live in the immediate area are being escorted to and from their homes.
Police are appealing for information and are particularly interested in any unreported incidents of thefts or suspicious activity in recent weeks.
