A boy is in critical condition in Auckland's Middlemore Hospital after being hit by a truck.
Police say the six-year-old was knocked down on Gray Avenue in the suburb of Papatoetoe after apparently running on to the road about 5pm on Tuesday.
The truck driver remained at the scene and police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
Some road closures are in place around the crash site on Tuesday night, although traffic is not being affected.
