Merger will mean job losses, says DHB boss

The chief executive of the Otago and Southland district health boards says a merger will result in job losses.

The Government on Monday approved the merger of the South Island DHBs, which is expected to be completed by the end of April this year.

DHB chief executive Brian Rousseau cannot say how many jobs will be lost in the merger.

However, the DHBs are spending more than their fair share of population-based funding and a $20 million loss is forecast, he says.
