A further two teenagers have been charged in relation to an attack at Tuakau that left an off-duty police officer with serious injuries.

Constable John Connolly needed a metal plate inserted in his skull after he was beaten while trying to break up a fight between two girls.

Police say he has no memory of the incident.

Eleven teenagers - both male and female, and all aged between 14 and 18 - have now appeared in the Pukekohe Youth Court charged with assaulting the officer.

Four have been remanded in custody. All 11 are due back in the Pukekohe District Court next Friday.

Police are also talking to two others about the assault.
