The Advertising Standards Authority has not upheld a complaint about police powers portrayed in an anti-drug-driving television advertisement.
The advertisement, part of a campaign by the Transport Agency and police, depicts a driver failing a random drug test and having to accompany a police officer to a police station.
A senior lecturer in education at Canterbury University, David Small, complained that the advertisement did not depict accurately the powers police have to test drivers for drug use.
In its ruling, the authority says the advertisement does not suggest a driver can be made to undergo a drug test at the whim of police.
