Police and search and rescue staff have recovered the body of a climber who died in Arthur's Pass last year.
Edward Sai Louie, 18, a student, was descending Mt Rolleston with a climbing companion when he fell into a crevasse in September.
Senior Constable Phil Simmons says the ice and snow had thawed enough to allow search and rescue staff to fly to the mountain and recover the body on Friday.
Mr Simmons says he hopes it may help bring some closure to Mr Louie's family and friends.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
