A Wellington bus driver needed hospital treatment for a broken arm following an attempt to steal his takings.
The driver was parked in the suburb of Lyall Bay about 10.30pm on Wednesday, when a man boarded the bus demanding cash.
He hit the driver with a metal object, before running off with what police say is a small amount of money.
Police ask people living near Hungerford Drive to check their properties for a discarded weapon, cash tin and clothing.
