Works by Picasso and Matisse are among five paintings that have been stolen from the museum of modern art in Paris.

Together, they are estimated to be worth just under 100 million euros.

Security camera footage is reported to show someone entering the museum through a window during the night.

Officials discovered the theft when they found a smashed window and a broken padlock.

It is not clear why alarm systems did not alert staff to the theft.
