The Earthquake Commission has received claims worth $1.5 million following heavy rain across the country over the past fortnight.
The commission says 138 claims have been made so far.
It says the worst affected areas are Napier, Whakatane, Tasman, Waitaki and Wellington.
Assessors are being sent to process the claims.
