Police say a fire at a telephone exchange in Porirua appears to be arson.
Petrol was poured through vents in a wall of the building at Titahi Bay, before it was set alight at about 11.30pm on Thursday.
The Fire Service managed to contain the damage to one wall and no phone lines have been affected.
