Israel has asked the United Nations to suspend attempts to organise an international inquiry into a raid on a ship trying to break the blockade of Gaza that left nine activists dead.
Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak says any inquiry should be shelved because new attempts to breach the blockade are still being organised, the BBC reports.
Nine pro-Palestinian activists died when Israeli soldiers stormed a Turkish aid ship in May.
The UN has called for an impartial and credible inquiry into the raid.
The BBC says Israel has announced its own inquiry but some European governments have expressed scepticism about its credibility.
Israel's request comes after it announced, under fierce international pressure, that it will ease the land blockade on Gaza.
It says the move will let in humanitarian aid, food and building supplies.
