Crafar to fight eviction moves

7:16 am on 25 June 2010

Allan Crafar says he will stay on in his dairy farm and fight any moves to evict him.

Mr Crafar's family business, including 16 North Island farms, went into receivership in October owing more than $200 million.

A New Zealand-based company associated with overseas interests has signed a conditional purchase deal, but Landcorp, a state-owned agency, has carried out due diligence on the farms and will place an offer if its board gives approval.

Mr Crafar says that, in the meantime, he plans to stay put in his farm house.

He says the receivers of the business are seeking to have him evicted and the case will go to court late next month.

But Mr Crafar insists the case against him is weak and he will fight it.
