Police say that early on Saturday morning in the port area of Gisborne, nine gang members from both Black Power and Mongrel Mob squared off in what is described as a nasty fight.
Of those nine men, four were admitted to hospital, three with serious lacerations to their bodies, and a fourth one was flown to Waikato Hospital with serious facial injuries.
The police have made one arrest from that incident.
